The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has made a significant seizure, confiscating more than 300 tonnes of illegal coal and impounding five trucks in the Churulia area, under the jurisdiction of the Jamuria police station. Unfortunately, the drivers and helpers of the trucks managed to evade capture during the security checkpoint, with three additional coal-laden trucks escaping as well.

This recent seizure marks the second such incident by the CISF, following the interception of illegal coal-loaded dumpers on November 19 in Jamuria. The substantial confiscation of coal has stirred commotion in the Raniganj coalfields region. Central agencies including the Income Tax department, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) have been conducting separate investigations and raids on coal mafias since November 2020. Several arrests of coal mafia members and officials from ECl (Eastern Coalfields Limited) have been made as part of these ongoing investigations.

Expressing concern, Hare Ram Singh, MLA of Jamuria, emphasized that the state government is resolute in its stance against illegal coal mining activities in the area. He urged the Asansol Durgapur Police Commissionerate to take stringent action against the organized coal looting syndicate, highlighting the exploitation of impoverished individuals who are employed as daily wage laborers and endure perilous conditions as coal miners.

Additionally, BJP leader Jitendra Tiwari reiterated the party's ongoing battle against illegal coal mafia syndicates in the Raniganj coalfields. He noted a resurgence in the organized illegal coal mining operations across various police station areas including Jamuria, Raniganj, Pandaveswar, Barabani, Salanpur, Kulti, and Faridpur under the jurisdiction of the Asansol Durgapur Police Commissionerate.

Consequently, the CISF has filed an FIR against unidentified individuals at the Jamuria police station in connection with this incident.
