India witnessed a substantial boost in coal production, marking an 11.03% rise to reach 84.53 million tonnes (MT) in November compared to the 76.14 MT recorded in the corresponding month of the previous fiscal year.

The report from the Coal Ministry highlighted that Coal India Ltd (CIL), which contributes significantly to the domestic coal output, increased its production by 8.74% to 65.97 MT during November 2023, compared to 60.67 MT in November of the previous fiscal year.

Moreover, the cumulative coal production until November 2023 witnessed a remarkable surge, reaching 591.28 MT (provisional) in the ongoing fiscal year, exhibiting a growth of 12.73% from 524.53 MT during the same period in the preceding fiscal year, as detailed by the ministry.

Additionally, the dispatch of coal in the country showed a substantial increase, recording 81.63 MT (provisional) last month compared to 74.87 MT (provisional) in November of the prior fiscal year, reflecting a growth rate of 9.02%. The cumulative coal dispatch until November 2023 surged to 623.04 MT (provisional) in the current fiscal year, showcasing a growth of 11.70% from 557.80 MT in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year, as per the ministry's statement.
