Teck Resources, a diversified mining company, has reported that its steelmaking coal sales for the third quarter fell short of its expectations. The company cited a slower-than-anticipated recovery in the supply chain due to the British Columbia wildfires, port disruptions, and plant challenges. During the September quarter, Teck sold 5.2 million tonnes of coal, below its guidance range of 5.6 million to 6 million tonnes.

Teck noted that they initiated a plant improvement program in the second and third quarters and have observed better plant performance in the fourth quarter. Additionally, the company anticipates reporting a positive steelmaking coal provisional pricing adjustment of C$23 million in the third quarter, with an average realized steelmaking coal price of $22 per ton in the same period.

Teck Resources is currently considering potential deals for its steelmaking coal unit. The company is scheduled to release its financial results on October 24.
