Miners are undergoing evacuation from a coal mine owned by Russian steel producer Evraz in the Kemerovo region due to a fire. The local emergency services reported that the fire broke out in a degassing box on the surface. Although the mine has been halted, there have been no reports of an open fire, and workers are ascending to the surface independently.

There were more than 250 miners in the mine at the time of the fire, according to Interfax. Evraz and mine operator Raspadskaya have not provided immediate comments on the incident, but a Raspadskaya spokesperson stated that the fire would not impact operations. The fire is related to a "surface fan" and is not within the mine itself. Evacuation procedures are being followed.
