In September, India's coal production experienced a substantial increase of 15.81%, reaching 67.21 million tonnes compared to 58.04 million tonnes in the same period last year, according to an official statement released on Tuesday. The cumulative coal production for the ongoing fiscal year up to September has also grown, totaling 428.25 million tonnes compared to 382.16 million tonnes in the previous year, marking a 12.06% increase, as stated by the Ministry of Coal.

State-owned Coal India Ltd, responsible for more than 80% of domestic coal production, reported a production of 51.44 million tonnes in September, up from 45.67 million tonnes in the previous year. Furthermore, coal dispatches increased to 70.33 million tonnes from 61.10 million tonnes in September of the previous fiscal year.

The coal sector experienced exceptional growth, with production, dispatches, and stock levels reaching remarkable heights, according to the ministry. This impressive progress is credited to the unwavering dedication of coal public sector undertakings (PSUs). The ministry emphasized its commitment to maintaining consistent coal production and dispatches to ensure uninterrupted supply for a reliable and resilient energy sector, contributing to the nation's ongoing growth and prosperity.
