New Delhi: On Tuesday, Union Coal Minister Pralhad Joshi chaired a meeting with senior officials from his ministry, including Coal Secretary Amrit Lal Meena, to explore strategies for enhancing coal production and supply to power plants. In a post on X, the minister stated, "Happy to share that coal stock at mine-end and in-transit has increased by 39 per cent over last year, thus assuring sufficient coal availability in the country."

Joshi discussed ways to further boost coal dispatch to thermal power plants and strategize coal production and supplies in the coming months during the meeting with Coal Ministry officials. He emphasized the government's commitment to meeting the coal requirements of various industries.

Official data reveals that coal dispatches to the power sector rose by more than 10 percent in the second quarter (Q2) until September 10th. During the April-August period of the current fiscal year, coal dispatches to the power sector increased by 6 percent, reaching 324.5 million tonnes compared to 306.70 million tonnes in the same period last year.
