New Delhi, State-owned NLC India Ltd (NLCIL) has secured the winning bid for the North Dhadu (Western Part) coal mine located in Jharkhand. The mine boasts coal reserves totaling 434.65 million tonnes (MT) and a peak rated capacity of 3 MT per annum, as confirmed by NLCIL.

"NLC India Limited has emerged as the successful bidder for the North Dhadu (Western Part) coal mine under the commercial coal block E-auction held on August 1, 2023, conducted by the Ministry of Coal," the company stated.

Based in Tamil Nadu, NLC operates three opencast lignite mines with a combined installed capacity of 30 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) in Neyveli. Additionally, it possesses an opencast lignite mine at Barsingsar in Rajasthan with an installed capacity of 2.1 MTPA, along with an opencast coal mine at Talabira in Odisha featuring an installed capacity of 20 MTPA.
