The Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested IAS officer Ranu Sahu in Chhattisgarh on Saturday, a day after conducting raids at her premises in connection with a money laundering case. ED's lawyer Saurabh Pandey stated that Sahu was arrested in relation to an alleged coal levy case and was produced in court for a hearing under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) to seek her custody. She is the second IAS officer in the state to be arrested in this case.

Ranu Sahu is a Chhattisgarh-cadre IAS officer from the 2010 batch, currently serving as the director of the state agriculture department. Prior to this, she held positions as the collector of the coal-rich districts of Korba and Raigarh. The ED had previously conducted raids at her residence in Raipur, and her assets were attached as part of the probe into the alleged coal levy case.

This case is related to an investigation by the agency into an alleged coal levy and liquor scam in the state, which has led to the arrest of several prominent bureaucrats, politicians, and individuals associated with them. Sameer Vishnoi, an IAS officer from the 2009 batch, was arrested in connection with this case last year.
