Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren called on the central government to ensure that coal companies settle their outstanding dues for land acquisition in the state and increase the rate of coal royalty paid to the state government. During a meeting with Niti Aayog officials, Soren also raised concerns regarding additional ration allocation by the Food Corporation of India (FCI), issues related to medical colleges, and greenfield road projects.

Soren emphasized that coal companies owe approximately ₹80,000 crore for land acquisition but have only paid ₹2,352 crore to the state government and landowners. He stressed the importance of compensating for all acquired land, regardless of whether mining has taken place, and urged the companies to increase the coal royalty paid to the state government. Soren also requested that coal companies provide closure certificates for closed mines before starting mining operations in new areas.

Additionally, the Chief Minister urged the central government to raise the ration quota allotted to the state by the FCI, citing an increase in the number of beneficiaries. Soren explained that the state government is currently compelled to purchase ration from the open market to accommodate the additional beneficiaries.

Furthermore, Soren called for consultation between the central government and the state government regarding the location of new medical colleges to be established in Jharkhand. He also sought clearance for nine road corridor projects, including the greenfield Ranchi-Sahebganj stretch, which would cover a combined distance of 1,600 kilometers.
