Khammam: Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has achieved impressive results in the first quarter of the current fiscal year (April to June) in terms of coal production, coal shipment, and overburden removal. The company surpassed its targets by producing 171 lakh tonnes of coal, exceeding the goal of 167 lakh tonnes by 102 percent. Additionally, coal shipment reached 180 lakh tonnes, surpassing the target of 166 lakh tonnes by 9 percent. Furthermore, SCCL successfully removed 118.3 lakh cubic metres of overburden, surpassing the target of 117.6 lakh cubic metres.

Compared to the same period last year, Singareni witnessed growth in coal output by 1.09 percent, coal transportation by 4.47 percent, and overburden removal by 8.91 percent in the first quarter. In a review meeting with senior company officials on Tuesday, SCCL Chairman and Managing Director N Sridhar emphasized the importance of maintaining a daily coal production and transportation target of 2 lakh tonnes. He also highlighted the need to take necessary measures to ensure uninterrupted coal production despite the challenges posed by the current wet season, in order to meet the established targets.
