Shreeji Infrastructure has been awarded an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract by Coal India for the development of 35 MW solar projects and associated transmission lines in West Bengal, India. Shreeji secured the contract with a winning bid of Rs 2.08 billion and is set to receive the letter of award on June 16, 2023. The company has a deadline of 12 months from the receipt of the work order to complete the projects. The solar projects will be located in Satgram (Kalidaspur 10 MW) and Kunustoria (Mahabir 12.5 MW and Amritnagar 12.5 MW) within West Bengal’s Eastern Coalfield (ECL). Shreeji Infrastructure will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the projects for the next five years. The solar energy generated from these projects will be utilized by ECL for captive use. The transmission network for the projects will be supplied and constructed by the West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company. Overall, the developments highlight the growing emphasis on renewable energy in India’s coal sector, with solar projects being implemented to meet energy demands and reduce environmental impact.
