Singareni Collieries Company Ltd and NTPC Ltd have entered into four agreements regarding the supply of coal. These agreements include the provision of coal to NTPC's Kudgi and Solapur thermal units, adjustment of total coal supply for NTPC plants based on requirements, advance payment for coal supply to the Ramagundam plant, and the adjustment of coal supplies between different NTPC units.

Under these agreements, Singareni will supply 67.5 lakh tonnes of coal annually to NTPC's 2x800 megawatt thermal station in Kudgi, Karnataka, and 28.2 lakh tonnes to the 660-megawatt project in Solapur, Maharashtra.

Singareni authorities mentioned that these agreements were signed on Monday evening under the guidance of the Ministry of Coal. The third agreement involves the advance payment to Singareni for coal supply to NTPC's Ramagundam plant, deviating from the usual practice of payment after receiving the coal. The Ramagundam plant consumes around 85 to 90 lakh tonnes of coal per month.

The fourth agreement allows for the adjustment of coal supplies totalling 207.7 lakh tonnes between different NTPC units. Singareni authorities highlighted that the latter two agreements are the first of their kind between the two entities, despite having long-standing coal supply agreements.
