Prahlad Joshi, the Union Minister for Coal, Mines, and Parliamentary Affairs, has announced that starting from 2025, India will cease the importation of coal from foreign countries. This decision comes as the country's annual domestic coal production has now reached 1,000 million metric tonnes.

During an event commemorating the nine years of the Narendra Modi government at the Centre, Joshi highlighted the Modi government's policy of achieving self-sufficiency, which has led to the significant increase in coal production. He emphasized that this achievement will eliminate the need to import coal from abroad by 2025.

Furthermore, with the consistent supply of coal to thermal plants, the country now experiences uninterrupted electricity production.

Joshi suggested that this accomplishment may have influenced the Congress government in Karnataka to promise free electricity of up to 200 units for consumers in the state.

Joshi also praised the successful implementation of various developmental policies, including "Make in India" and "Aatma Nirbhar Bharat," along with other schemes introduced by the Modi government over the past nine years. He expressed confidence that these initiatives have propelled India towards becoming the world's third-largest economy by the end of 2028-2029.

The Union Minister further highlighted the government's efforts to generate more employment opportunities through revolutionary measures, such as providing skill development training to millions of youths across the country. These initiatives aim to fulfill job requirements in various industrial sectors, positioning India as a key global hub for industrial production.
